Our Program
A Clear Path Forward for Every Rider
At Hoofbeats Riding Academy and Dean Lacey Equestrian Services, riding lessons are only one part of the journey.
Our programs are designed to guide riders from their first introduction to horses through advanced horsemanship
and competitive preparation, if they choose that path.

Parents and adult riders often ask the same question: Where do I fit, and what does progression look like here?
The answer depends on your goals, your commitment level, and your desire to grow. Some riders come to build confidence and learn the fundamentals. Others arrive with competitive aspirations. Many simply want a structured environment where horsemanship is taught correctly from the beginning.
What unites every path at Hoofbeats is a commitment to safety, horse welfare, and steady skill development.
We do not rush progress. We build it.
Beginner Youth Pathway
For many families, our programs are a child’s first introduction to horses. The Beginner Youth Pathway is designed to create a strong foundation that prioritizes safety, responsibility, and confidence.
Students begin by learning how to approach, halter, groom, and tack a horse correctly before focusing on riding skills. Understanding the animal is as important as learning to control it. Riders develop balance, steering, transitions, and arena awareness gradually, under direct supervision.
Parents appreciate the structure. Lessons are individualized. Expectations are clear. Riders are taught accountability and respect for the barn environment. There is no pressure to compete and no culture of comparison. Progress is measured against personal growth, not against other riders.
As skills increase, students may transition into more advanced riding opportunities, group lessons where appropriate, or deeper involvement through the apprenticeship program.
The goal at this stage is not speed. It is stability. When fundamentals are strong, everything that follows becomes easier.
